Frequently Asked Questions About indexfunds.com Discussion Board
By IndexFunds.com Staff

How do I register?
Go any of our three discussion boards (Beginner's, Main, or ETF) and click on the "Register" link at the top of the discussion board page. You can also post without registering by just filling in a user name with your message. Believe me, though friend you'd rather be registered because of all of the other things it enables you to do (see below). And we DO NOT put you on any list or send you any mail. I might email you if you post something crude or post something to the effect that my mother uses active management, however.

Why register?
By registering, you are able to edit your posts even after they've been posted, see who else is online, send private emails, change your viewing and posting preferences, and most importantly strive to enter the pantheon of Those Who Have Posted Most. In so doing, you will progress through the very stages of site wisdom, from "newbie" and "novice," through "journeyman," "member," "enthusiast," and finally, "raving lunatic."

How do I make a post?
Go to the board you'd like to post on (Beginner's, Main, or ETF)
. From there, if you are new, you will want to register as a user (see how and why above). Next, just click on the little button that looks like a piece of paper, and voila, post away. The other buttons beside the post button allow you to move between discussion boards (as does the "jump" box just above) or to collapse the discussion threads to either just view the first post of each thread, or all posts. Navigate the text links above to take advantage of all the handy utilities that come with being a registered user, or to search any of the thousands of previous discussion board posts.

To post a response to another post, just click on the post and then click on reply. As with any post, after you're done typing, make sure you click on "continue" and then continue again when your "preview post" pops up. If you are registered, you can later edit a post you've already posted by clicking on the little button next to the big "REPLY" button.

Why post on IndexFunds.com?
Because if you post on indexfunds.com, you'll be cool. All the people who post to our discussion board are cool. If they aren't when they begin posting, they soon become cool. Try it and then note how you become the life of the party as you knowledgeably reflect on the mean-variance frontier and slice and dice asset allocation.

What the heck does NTIP mean?
We have at least begun to compile a glossary of all the resident jargon. Click here to be "in the know."
