to Begin Trading Options on iShares

Today, AMEX announced that it will begin trading
options on the iShares Russell 1000 Index Fund, an exchange-traded
fund (ETF) managed by Barclays Global Investors (BGI). The announcement
hails the first time an option will be traded on an ETF that tracks
a broad-based, domestic small- and large-cap stock index.
AMEX also announced that on Wednesday, 10/18/2000,
it will begin trading options on three additional iShares: the
Russell 2000 Index Fund , the Russell 2000 Growth Index Fund,
and the Russell 2000 Value Index Fund.
"Options on exchange-traded funds are a natural
for the AMEX, as they link our three main product lines - options,
ETFs and equities," said Salvatore F. Sodano, Chairman and CEO
of AMEX.
